Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction

These Account Terms (“Terms”) govern your creation and use of a customer account, and your purchase and access of digital products (audiobooks and ebooks), on the Puritan Publishing (https://puritanpublishing.com) / Brave Old World Press (https://braveoldworldpress.com) website (or online platform). By creating an account or making a purchase, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

2. Account Creation

To purchase products from our store, you must create an account through our online platform. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account.
  • Maintain the security of your password and account credentials.
  • Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
3. Digital Content Access

Audiobook and Electronic Book (“Ebook”) purchases are delivered and accessed through our Audiobookshelf server (also referred to as the “web player” or the “audio player” or the “digital library” or other similar terms), which is hosted at https://audio.puritanpublishing.com / https://audio.braveoldworldpress.com. Upon purchase, the email address on file with your online account is synced to our Audiobookshelf server to provision your access to your purchased content, in addition to being granted a digital file download (for you to play on your own device).
The Audiobookshelf server is not a separately governed service, it operates solely as our platform for delivering the digital content you have purchased, and your use of it is governed entirely by these Account Terms and our Privacy Policy. No separate account terms apply.
You agree to use your access to purchased content for personal, non-commercial use only. Sharing of account credentials or purchased content with individuals who have not purchased it is strictly prohibited.

4. No Warranty of Availability

We make no warranty or guarantee that our website, product pages, checkout system, or the audio player will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free at all times. Outages, downtime, or technical issues may occur from time to time, whether due to maintenance, technical failure, third-party hosting issues, or other causes outside our control.
In the event of an outage or service interruption affecting your ability to access the website or your purchased content, we will make reasonable efforts to restore service as quickly as reasonably possible. However, we cannot guarantee a specific restoration timeframe.

5. Orders and Payment

The following terms apply to orders and payment on our platform:

  • All prices are listed in U.S. Dollars (USD $) unless otherwise stated.
  • Payment is processed at the time of purchase through our designated payment processor(s).
  • You are responsible for ensuring your billing information is accurate and current.
  • We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at our discretion, including in cases of suspected fraud or error in pricing.
6. License to Digital Content

When you purchase an audiobook or an ebook, you are purchasing a limited, personal, non-transferable license to access and use that content for your own personal use. You do not acquire ownership of the underlying work, and reproduction, redistribution, resale, or public performance of purchased content is strictly prohibited.

Notice: Some of our works may disclaim if the material for the text was sourced or adapted from the public domain, for which you are able to freely use such original public domain materials, as such is not our copyright. However, the illustrated designs, original materials we have created/developed, and certain modernizations/translations, etc. are the sole copyright of Puritan Publishing / Brave Old World Press. Please refer to the Copyrights Notice on each work for specific details and additional information.

7. Account Termination

We reserve the sole right to suspend or terminate your account at any time (with or without warning), including your access to purchased content, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, engaged in fraudulent activity, or misused our platform (including unauthorized sharing of purchased content), or by any legal/regulatory requirement enforced upon us. Therefore, we encourage you to immediately download and save copies of any digital file downloads from your purchases, as such may or may not be always available to you via our platform. (If you recently purchased digital downloads from us, and your account becomes terminated for some reason, please contact us as soon as possible to request a manual review, and we will try our best to manually provide these files to you through a different process.)

8. Support Requests

We strive to respond to and process customer support requests within 5–7 business days. However, this timeframe is a general target and not a guarantee, and response times may vary depending on order volume, the nature of the request, or circumstances outside our control.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Puritan Publishing / Brave Old World Press shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, our website, your account, or the Audiobookshelf player, including but not limited to loss of access to purchased content due to technical outages.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of your account after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States of America and the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
